Turgutreis is the second-largest settlement on the Bodrum peninsula, but it still feels like a laid-back seaside town. Its 5 km stretch of sandy beach lines a palm-studded promenade, where locals walk their dogs and families gather after sundown. You're here for the view: the water is a sharp turquoise, and on clear days you can see the Greek island of Kos just across the channel. The promenade is dotted with casual fish restaurants and tea gardens, so it’s easy to grab a çay and watch the boats bob around the marina. Sunset is when the place really shines—the sky often erupts in colour behind the distant islands. It’s a practical side trip if you're staying in Bodrum town and want a quieter coastline without sacrificing amenities.

To watch a fiery sunset over the Aegean with the silhouette of Kos on the horizon.

Local tip

For a quieter spot, head to the far end of the promenade near the marina rather than the central beach section.

Accessibility

The paved promenade is wheelchair-friendly, but the sandy beach itself may not be easily accessible for all mobility levels.
