Turgutreis sits on the western tip of the Bodrum peninsula, facing Kos across the strait. Its beach runs for kilometres — shallow and family-friendly — and the Saturday market draws shoppers from across the peninsula. The waterfront promenade fills with cafes at sunset, and ferries leave for Kos and Kalymnos in season.

For a long sandy swim on Bodrum's quieter western shore and a proper Turkish market day.

Local tip

Saturday market early for produce; sunset drinks on the promenade face Kos — bring ID if you are tempted by a day trip ferry.
