Orhaniye Kızkumu Sandbar
A natural sandbar that emerges at low tide, stretching into the bay near Orhaniye village.
Orhaniye Kızkumu is a sandy spit that extends into the sea from the shore near Orhaniye village, about 25 km from Marmaris. During low tide, the sandbar rises above the water, allowing you to walk hundreds of meters out into the bay. The phenomenon lasts only a few hours, so timing is everything. The surrounding pine-covered hills and clear turquoise water make it a peaceful spot for photos and a short dip. There are no facilities directly on the beach, so bring water and sunscreen.
“Walk on a narrow sandbar surrounded by sea – a rare natural sight you can only experience at low tide.”
Check the Marmaris tide tables online before you go; the window to walk the sandbank is only about 2 hours around low tide.
The sandbar is accessed via a sandy beach; uneven terrain and no paved paths make it unsuitable for wheelchairs or strollers.
