İçmeler
A pine-fringed bay 8km from Marmaris, with clear water and trails linking to panoramic mountain viewpoints over the Datça Peninsula.
İçmeler is a relaxed bay settlement 8 km from Marmaris, reachable by frequent dolmuş. Pine forest presses in on three sides, giving the waterfront a calm, green backdrop. The public sandy beach has shallow, clear water, but the real draw is the hiking.
Walking trails climb from behind the mosque and the old resort roads into the hills. Within 20 minutes you gain a ridge with sweeping views of the bay, Marmaris, and the Datça Peninsula. These paths are not signposted but are easy to follow and rarely crowded.
The beach is free; sunbeds and umbrellas are extra. The northern end near the small boat jetty is usually quieter. The mountain trails offer no shade, so start early in the morning or late afternoon. Even in peak summer, the higher points stay breezy.
“For pine-scented ridge walks with open views over İçmeler Bay and the Datça Peninsula.”
Take the unpaved road behind İçmeler Mosque for a less-trodden trail; after 20 minutes, it joins the main ridge path with clear views.
The beach promenade and northern end are flat and paved; uphill trails are steep, uneven, and not wheelchair accessible.
