Entry note: Reached only by boat from Ölüdeniz or Fethiye harbour; tour price varies.

The Mavi Mağara opens on the cliff coast west of Ölüdeniz, and boats nose inside when the sea is calm. Sunlight refracts through the entrance and lights the chamber turquoise — the effect lasts only minutes as clouds pass, which is part of the drama. Most visitors see it on a half-day Ölüdeniz boat tour alongside Butterfly Valley or coves nearby.

For the sudden blue glow inside a cliff cave — a five-minute spectacle worth the boat ride.

Local tip

Sit toward the bow on calm days; captains time entry for mid-morning light when the interior is brightest.
