Entry note: Public beach; sunbed hire extra.

Bitez sits in a curve of bay protected from the open Aegean, so the sea stays relatively calm for families while neighbouring beaches catch more wind. Citrus orchards run behind the shore, and a string of cafes serves breakfast under the trees. When the summer meltemi picks up, the outer bay becomes one of Bodrum's reliable windsurf spots.

For a calmer swim close to Bodrum and a village atmosphere without the marina crowds.

Local tip

Morning is best for swimming; afternoons in July–August get busy with windsurfers and day-trippers from the town.
