Amyntas Rock Tomb
A temple-fronted Lycian tomb carved into the cliff above Fethiye harbour — the city's postcard view.
Cut around 350 BC for Amyntas son of Hermagios, this is the largest and best-preserved of Fethiye's rock tombs. The facade copies a wooden Ionic temple: columns, a pediment, and a burial chamber behind the stone door. From the terrace you look straight over the marina and the gulf. The others in the cliff face are smaller, but this is the one that explains why Lycian Fethiye (Telmessos) felt so tied to its harbour.
“For the carved temple facade and the harbour panorama from the cliff terrace.”
Come near sunset when the facade turns warm gold and the harbour lights start to come on below.
Steep paved path with steps to the terrace; not step-free.
