Sedef Island
Sedef Island, the smallest of the Princes' Islands, sits southeast of Büyükada. Access is limited with seasonal boats, so check before heading out.
Sedef Island is one of the nine Princes' Islands in the Sea of Marmara, officially a neighbourhood of Istanbul's Adalar district. It's the smallest and quietest of the group, sitting just southeast of Büyükada. Because public ferry service is irregular and seasonal, it sees far fewer day-trippers than its larger neighbours. That's exactly the point – the island operates at its own slow, sea-defined rhythm.
Most of the shoreline is private, and the interior is a mix of pine groves, scrubland, and a small scattering of summer houses. Without the crowds, you'll hear the lapping water and the wind through the trees rather than the din of beach clubs. It's a place to walk aimlessly, not tick off sights.
“Experience the calmest of the Princes' Islands, where the rhythm is set by the sea, not crowds.”
Bring your own water and food; there are almost no shops, and the few that exist close early.
