Built on Çamlıca Hill and opened in March 2019, the Grand Çamlıca Mosque is one of the newest additions to Istanbul’s skyline. Its location means you can spot the mosque from much of the city centre, and in turn, the hilltop offers wide views over the Bosphorus and the city on clear days.

The complex is much more than a prayer hall. It includes an art gallery, a library, and a conference hall, all housed in a modern Islamic architectural style. With room for 63,000 worshippers, it's one of the largest mosques in Turkey.

Entry is free, and the surrounding gardens are a calm spot to escape the busy streets below. Just remember it’s an active place of worship, so dress respectfully and time your visit outside of prayer times.

For a modern mosque complex with free hilltop views over the Bosphorus and a vast, calm atmosphere.

Local tip

Catch the morning light from the sea-facing terrace, then check out the art gallery before the midday rush.
