About this venue
Housed in a grand Bosphorus waterfront mansion in Emirgan, the Sakıp Sabancı Museum opened in 2002. The permanent collection spans Ottoman calligraphy, Islamic manuscripts, and Turkish painting from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum is equally celebrated for its major temporary exhibitions — retrospectives of Dalí, Picasso, and Rodin drew hundreds of thousands of visitors. The mansion's original rooms, a converted horse stable, and a modern pavilion make an architecturally distinctive complex overlooking the Bosphorus.
