About this event

The Sakıp Sabancı Museum's permanent collection is one of the most significant of its kind — spanning Ottoman calligraphy by masters such as Mustafa Râkim, Islamic manuscripts illuminated with gold leaf, and a strong survey of 19th and early 20th-century Turkish figurative painting. The collection occupies the mansion's original residential rooms and a connected pavilion, with Bosphorus views at almost every turn. Allow two hours and combine with a walk through Emirgan's chestnut-shaded park.

The first brewery in Turkey was started in 1890 by two brothers from Switzerland, the Bomonti brothers. In 1902 they built a new facility in the southern part of Constantinople (now known in English as Istanbul) which still stands there today. It is situated in the Bomonti district, which of course takes it name from the factory.
