Salacak Waterfront
A breezy seaside promenade on the Asian shore with unobstructed views of the Maiden’s Tower and the Historic Peninsula. Especially popular around sunset.
The Salacak waterfront stretches along the Asian shore of the Bosporus, just south of Üsküdar’s ferry docks. The paved walkway faces west across the water, giving you a front-row view of the Maiden’s Tower sitting alone in the channel, with the domes and minarets of the old city rising behind it. It’s a local favourite for evening strolls. Small tea gardens line the shore, offering çay and simit at outdoor tables. Crowds gather on the benches and low walls as the sun drops behind the historic peninsula. The mood is relaxed; you’ll see families, couples, and fishermen all claiming their spot along the railing. There isn’t much else to do here — this is a place for sitting and watching. For a longer stay, walk north along the coast to Üsküdar’s main square, or head south towards Harem and the quieter stretches of the Asian shoreline.
“Istanbul’s best free sunset view of the Maiden’s Tower and Old City, right from a relaxed Asian-side promenade.”
Go on a clear weekday; by 5pm the seaside benches fill up, but you can still sit on the broad concrete wall with a tea from the Belediye çay bahçesi.
Paved promenade with step-free access, suitable for wheelchairs and strollers; some gentle slopes near tea gardens.
