Istanbul Aquarium
Opened in 2011 in Florya, this WAZA member public aquarium sits just 5km from Atatürk Airport, near the coast and transport links.
Istanbul Aquarium opened in April 2011 in Florya, on the city’s southwest coast. The site is 5km from Atatürk International Airport, with easy access by motorway and rail. It is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), which sets international standards. The aquarium presents a journey through different marine ecosystems in a contemporary setting. While it’s a bit outside the historic centre, it’s a convenient stop for those with time near the airport or looking for a family outing.
“A WAZA-accredited public aquarium only 5km from the airport – easy with kids.”
Weekends are overwhelmingly crowded; go on a weekday right at opening (10am) and you’ll have the tunnel nearly to yourself.
