Golden Horn Metro Bridge
A sleek cable-stayed bridge carrying the metro line, also with a pedestrian walkway offering open-air views of the Golden Horn.
Opened on 15 February 2014, this cable-stayed bridge is the fourth crossing over the Golden Horn. It carries the M2 metro line between Karaköy and Küçükpazarı, sitting roughly 200 metres east of the older Atatürk Bridge and just west of the Galata Bridge.
The bridge's real draw for visitors is its wide pedestrian walkway, separated from the train tracks. As you walk across, you get an unobstructed, windy panorama of the Golden Horn, with ferry boats crossing below and the Süleymaniye Mosque silhouetted on the hill. It's a quick way to get from the Karaköy waterfront to the start of the historic Balat–Fener neighbourhoods without dealing with traffic.
“Walk across the Golden Horn where the only traffic is the metro humming beside you.”
The walkway gets very windy; lean against the railing for steadier photos, and the north exit lands you right at the Balat steps.
The pedestrian walkway is step-free, with lifts at both ends, so it's suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
