Bomonti
A century-old beer factory now houses coffee spots, galleries, and co-working spaces. It's a locals' hangout, not a tourist stop.
The Bomonti area grew around the old Tuborg brewery, which shuttered in the early 2000s. Rather than knock it down, the brick buildings were repurposed. Today you'll find a cluster of cafés, art spaces, shops, and a few offices in the former industrial complex. The courtyard fills with people on weekends, snacking on simit and sipping espresso where giant beer vats once stood. Don't expect a polished museum experience; it's a lived-in, slightly scruffy neighbourhood hub that still feels like a discovery.
“A genuine conversion of a factory into a relaxed hangout—no tourist queues.”
Head past the main courtyard to find the rear garden, quieter and often overlooked.
Courtyards and paths are mostly flat, but some doorways have small steps and cobblestones can be uneven.
