Sillyon Ancient City
An ancient Pamphylian fortress with Hittite roots on a hillside near Antalya, known locally as Yanköy Hisarı or Asar Köy.
Sillyon was an important Pamphylian fortress and city, located close to ancient Attaleia on the southern coast of modern Turkey. Its native Greco-Pamphylian name was Selywiys, possibly derived from the Hittite Sallawassi. In Byzantine times it was called Syllaeum or Syllaion.
Today the site is a quiet, rarely visited ruin with a steep climb to reach the top. The remains are scattered across the hillside, and you'll likely have the place to yourself even in summer. No admission fee, just you and the wind over the stones.
“Rugged, untouristed hillside ruin with wide views and a deep Pamphylian past.”
Start early to beat the heat; the unshaded path gets very slick after rain.
Steep, uneven terrain with loose stones; not suitable for wheelchairs or limited mobility.
