Karaköy to Kadıköy: a ferry afternoon that actually lands

Galata Tower as a skyline check, then the short hop to the Asian side — without turning the day into a museum marathon.

The best Istanbul afternoons are transport with a view, not more museums. Karaköy to Kadıköy is the short version: one European landmark, one ferry, one Asian neighborhood walk.

Karaköy first, lightly

Galata Tower is optional as a climb. The point is the slope and the bridge. Walk Galata Bridge if you want fishermen and tram noise; skip the tower queue if the line wraps the plaza.

The ferry is the middle act

Take the Karaköy–Kadıköy boat. Sit outside if you can. Do not plan anything for the crossing except watching the skyline flip. On the Asian side, Moda pier is a clean landing for sea air.

Kadıköy without a checklist

Land, walk inland for a snack street, then drift toward Moda seafront if you want coast air. This is not a see-everything stop — it is the reset after the historic peninsula.

One tower glance. One boat. One neighborhood that does not feel like a museum wing.
