Entry note: Village and marina free to walk; beach clubs charge for loungers.

Yalıkavak transformed from a quiet sponge-diving village into one of the Aegean's premier yacht harbours, yet the old centre above the marina still has whitewashed lanes and a Friday market. Windmills crown the ridge behind town, and the bay catches spectacular sunsets across the water. It is pricier than central Bodrum but calmer than the bar strip.

For marina-watching and old-village lanes without Bodrum castle crowds.

Local tip

Park above the old town and walk down — the marina view opens up as you descend toward the water.
