Maslak
Istanbul's northern business district with its glass high-rises and metro stop. A quick look at the city's corporate skyline.
Once an exclave of Şişli municipality, Maslak joined Sarıyer in 2012. It’s now one of Istanbul’s main business hubs on the European side, home to a dense cluster of office towers and the Maslak metro station on the M2 line. The population counts about 12,000, but during weekdays it swells with commuters.
You won’t find historic bazaars or mosques here—this is purely modern Istanbul. The main drag, Büyükdere Caddesi, is flanked by reflective glass facades and busy car traffic. It’s a free, walkable area if you want to see the city’s corporate face, and there are a few cafés and mall entrances if you need a break.
“To glimpse Istanbul's modern business skyline without leaving the European side.”
The pedestrian overpass by the metro offers the cleanest view of the skyline; go after 10am to avoid crammed platforms.
Main sidewalks are wide and flat; Maslak metro station has elevator access.
